Brothers,

We ask you to fast and pray specifically for the US Bishops in conversation with Pope Francis, particularly Cardinal DiNardo.  On Wednesday, we hand-delivered copies of the letter along with the full list of signatories to each of the Officers of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and to several members of the General Secretariat. This came immediately prior to their trip to Rome on Thursday, where they were scheduled to meet Pope Francis to discuss a possible investigation, as well as how they might incorporate higher standards of transparency and accountability moving forward.  Please keep these bishops in your prayers and consider the following action items.

Action Items:

  1. In our letter, we asked the Pope: “Amidst widespread global abuse, coverups, and hierarchical failure, what are you doing and what will you do to protect the people of God?”  Today we ask you to pose this question to yourself.  What are you doing in your own diocese to bring about radical purification in the Church?  What practical steps are you taking to rebuild the Church?  To this end, we strongly encourage you to send this letter to your own bishop and priests. Don’t be silent!  Don’t wait!  We are in a battle and the time to act is now!
  2. We’re now 10,000 strong!!!!  The more men we have fasting the better, please forward this email to at least one man and encourage him to sign: http://catholicmenunited.org/

Today is the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.  Christ’s Church is undergoing a crucifixion, but we anticipate this crucifixion will bring about a resurrection.  Today’s entrance antiphon says it well: “We should glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our life, and our resurrection: through him, we are saved and made free.”

In Jesus,
